How was third excursion ?

Dry summer affected our program of autumn excursion , thanks to the dry steppes and surrounding woods, we had to change the program and not to make the walk across the steppe with mycological program. Thanks to this, we were able to spend more time with other selected themes, ie mammals and fish.

Lecturers Catherine Janotová with help of L'udovít Dureje and Joseph Bryja demonstrated to us the world of mammals, except freshly harvested animals (and therefore very illustrative overview of what lives around the steppe), we were able to demonstrate differences between groups on skulls and stuffed specimens.

The second part of the excursion was then focused on the fishes in the river Jihlava and the changes that occurred in the river after construction of the dam. We were able to see the fish-caught above the dam and along with the lecturer Paul Jurajda and his student Luďek Šlapanský watch the way of fishing below the dam. Visitors could try out the role assistants during the practical part of the excursion. A large part of the excursion was focused on discussions on invasive species of fish and aquatic animals and their impact on biodiversity.

At the end of the day we had a comprehensive lecture by Miroslav Capek about nature and research in Costa Rica. Due to engaging interpretation of many attractions and contexts are certainly many listeners felt for a moment as in the tropics at the end of almost autumn day.
