June project days 2015 BY OWN EYES

Two project days called BY OWN EYES for high and elementary school took place on the Mohelno Serpentine Steppe in June. They were attended by high school students from Znojmo (SZŠ and VOŠZ Znojmo) and pupils from elementary school Mohelno. A total of 49 students and pupils participated in.

The first excursion for students from Znojmo under the leadership of Samuel Lvončík and Igor Malenovský was botanical-entomological. Students tried out how to make phytocenological image, learned a lot about the flora of the Czech Republic, especially Mohelno Serpentine Steppe. Furthermore they fished in river Jihlava flowing around Mohelský mill and under microscopes oriented aquatic insects.

The second excursion under the leadership of Tereza Králová and Iva Martincová focused on zoology. Pupils from Mohelno, for example, can learn to recognize bird voices and identify species captured by "to vote". They also learned a lot about mammals, especially rodents living in the Mohelno Serpentine Steppe. I. Martincová had captured some species which wouldn’t be possible to see, so the students could see and observe them alive.

Both excursions according to ratings of the participants were very interesting.
